La large format printer HP PageWide XL 80000 has been awarded the IF Gold Award, one of the most prestigious design awards in the world. The products distinguished with the iF Gold Award are part of the “Best of the best” list, which identifies the 75 best designs of the year from around the world. In this edition, the iF Design Award jury has analyzed 5.300 products from 53 countries. 34% have achieved the iF seal of excellence in design and only 75 have won the iF Gold Award. The latter is reserved for designs that meet high standards of demand and in the past has been awarded to iconic products such as the iPhone 6, the Audi Prologue concept, the Mercedes AMG GT6 or the Bang & Olufsen BeoVision TV set.
The engineers at the HP Barcelona International Center, located in Sant Cugat del Vallès, have carried out all the phases of conception, design and development of this printer. The printer HP PageWideXL It is aimed at the professional market for the production of documents such as plans, posters or maps, mainly in graphic reproduction establishments and providers of printing services for points of sale, opening new business opportunities for them.
The jury iF Design Award has highlighted the innovation applied to improve the usability and efficiency of this printer: “The design language of the HP PageWide XL responds to its status as a professional work tool. Each element is clearly identified with its functionality, allowing the user to maximize efficiency ”. And he puts as an example: “unlike other similar products, the key components such as the toner cartridges are not hidden, but have been treated as key elements in plain sight, so that the user is allowed easy access to this component. every time it must be a replacement ”.
The iF Design Award contest is organized by the Hannover International Design Forum and has been awarding the best designs in the disciplines of product, packaging, communication, interior design and architecture, among others for more than 60 years. An independent jury made up of 60 international experts analyzes the thousands of applications received each year. The awards ceremony took place on March 11 in Munich in front of more than 2.000 attendees and on Saturday the traditional exhibition that will showcase the awarded products for several months was inaugurated in Hamburg.
