Lipton Ice Tea relies on carton packs from SIG

Lipton

In the Netherlands, Lipton Ice Tea, a Unilever brand, has decided to switch to SIG aseptic carton packs with SIGnature Full Barrier packaging material, in which all the polymers used are linked to certified renewable materials of forest origin through a mass balance system.

The move to SIGnature Full Barrier is also a significant step in Lipton's commitment to contribute to the circular economy and become a fully circular brand. Its iced tea will now use the SIGnature Full Barrier carton from May 2022, specifically the 1.500ml combifitMagnum.

Carton packs with SIGnature Full Barrier reduce the carbon footprint compared to a standard pack, as a result of replacing fossil polymers with mass-balanced, plant-based polymers made from tall oil, a by-product of paper. The three key raw materials come from responsible sources certified through mass balance systems: cardboard comes from FSC-certified forests and other controlled sources; the renewable polymers of forest origin are certified according to ISCC PLUS; and an ultra-thin layer of aluminum that protects from light and oxygen is endorsed by the ASI (Aluminium Stewardship Initiative) certification.
