The National Packaging Awards already reach more than 1000 registered participants

The National Packaging and Packaging Awardse, organized by the Cluster of Innovation in Container and Packaging, have already doubled the number of participants registered in its XII edition compared to the previous year. So far, more than 1.000 students from 38 centers, universities and design schools throughout Spain have enrolled.

Specifically, the ones that have presented the most students so far are: Polytechnic University of Valencia, Jaume I University of Castellón, EASD Valencia, Polytechnic University of Madrid, ESNE, University of Deusto, Mondragon Unibertsitatea, University of Zaragoza and University of Valladolid.

This year, in addition, the awards will count as a participating center invited to the University of Monterrey in Mexico, opening ties of cooperation with the entire Spanish-speaking community.

The objective of these awards is to promote the design and sustainability of containers and packaging as levers for innovation. Students will be able to continue presenting their projects in the second call that has a deadline until May 5.

Particiapant enterprises 

These awards are also intended to serve as a bridge between the business world and the university world. In this edition, students must respond with creative solutions to the challenges launched by six major companies, Danone, Carmencita, Verdecora, ITC Packaging, Logifruit and Grupo La Plana.

The multinational Danone has launched the challenge to develop a sustainable dosing system focused for use by children, allowing them to enjoy their products independently. The challenge is to make a storage and supply product for children, but purchased by adults. 

Carmencita proposes the creation of a lid for your paprika container. This supposes a redesign of the product that makes up for the current deficiencies, such as its recyclability or practicality, while maintaining its current external appearance.

In the ecommerce packaging sector, the firm Greenheart, looking for a solution for the shipment of plants. The objective of this challenge is to be competitive in the online channel. Therefore, the packaging must be functional, simple to mold and that allows the product to be secured.

ITC-Packaging Launch the challenge: «Dipe for sure». The company seeks the design of packaging that guarantees the safety and hygiene of consumers when sharing spreadable foods, against the high trend of foods such as guacamole or hummus.

logifruit, a company specialized in sustainable logistics, proposes to the students the design of a secondary plastic container for dry products.

Finally, the La Plana Group proposes the creation of a closure system for cardboard packaging to replace the plastic seal. The solution must be applicable to different carton packaging formats.

The National Packaging Awards are financed by the Department of Sustainable Economy, Productive Sectors, Trade and Labor of the Generalitat Valenciana.
