Maison Ruinart x the artist Ignasi Monreal

February 6th 2023

Ruinart

El champagne Ruinart returns to ARCO, the prestigious International Art Fair that will be held from February 22 to 26 in Madrid.

For this occasion, Maison Ruinart has selected the artist Ignasi Monreal as the person in charge of his creative intervention on the second skin case. The artistic creation of Ignasi Monreal is inspired by concern and by the different projects developed by Maison Ruinart for a more sustainable world.

The 18 magnums, 10 Blanc de Blancs and 8 Rosé, become trompe l'oeils that recreate nature and insects who come close to the remains of food during the after-dinner meal, something as Mediterranean as the artist and as important to the Maison, the main axis of various projects aimed at reforestation and recovery of biodiversity in Champagne (Taissy). Ruinart is considered one of the pioneers in environmental and climate protection in Champagne. with the project vitiforestry, Maison Ruinart has replanted trees and hedges between the vineyards to improve biodiversity with forestry methods.

In the coming years, Ruinart will focus on a Biodiversity pilot project in the historic vineyards of Taissy. On some 40 hectares, 20 of them Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, it is intended to promote the diversity of local fauna and flora. Vitiforestry is the name of the approach, which aims to give more life to the vineyards and their soils. By conserving nature and restoring ecosystems, their vulnerability is reduced and their resilience is increased. The conservation and restoration of nature constitute an important strategy in the Maison's fight against climate change and its sustainability.

The proceeds from the sale of these exclusive magnums by the artist will go to the NGO (R) Forest Project, whose objective is focused on repopulating the world with trees and raising awareness to care for the planet. Specifically, El Bosque Ruinart, a project that began in 2022 and that is strengthened year after year with its repopulation. In addition, Ruinart, from February 22 to 26, will donate the entire sale in selected establishments* to (R)Forest, with the aim of continuing to contribute to the reforestation project.

Ignasi Monreal. ode to the desktop

Maison Ruinart has entrusted Ignasi Monreal with the artistic intervention of the second skin cases of this limited edition, to give creative rein to your expressiveness. One of the elements of his work is the after-dinner meal in the middle of nature, understood as a key concept to taste Ruinart and enjoy endless conversations with friends.

The 18 customized magnum bottles express the continuity of his Plats Bruts work. The artist wanted to integrate the intervention into his latest work, giving full meaning to the creative concept and the importance of Ruinart's biodiversity.

The delicate work of Ignasi Monreal with Ruinart will be on sale in the ARCO space at a price of €1000 and can be purchased upon request from the brand.

The use of sustainable painting and the use of trompe l'oeil that integrates the natural and the animal brings the work closer to that philosophy of Maison Ruinart of a more sustainable world and concern for the environment.

Los The Maison's vineyards are certified with the sustainability seal Lasting Viticulture in Champagne since 2014. Maison Ruinart has taken a series of measures with the aim of saving CO2 and conserving resources. One of the most innovative developments is the new Second Skin outer packaging. Made from 100% paper, it saves 60% of greenhouse gas emissions of conventional packaging.

In this special edition where each piece is unique, the eco packaging disruptive that silhouettes the emblematic distinctive bottle of the Maison is used as a 360º canvas that houses the work of a young, but world-renowned artist.

This new exhibition of contemporary art, in this case, that of the multidisciplinary artist Ignasi Monreal joins the great names that have collaborated with the first Maison de champagne and consolidates, for yet another year, Ruinart's close relationship with the world of art.
