Metsä Board launches a new board for food use

June 11th, 2014

Metsä Board has launched a new lightweight yet sustainable quality, Carta Dedica, at the PulPaper Fair in Helsinki, Finland, developed especially for the foodservice industry.

The board is available in two versions, one with a kaolin stucco for high quality printing results; and an uncoated version that gives a more natural appearance. Carta Dedica is also suitable for extrusion or dispersion coating when an additional barrier is required. It has a hardsizing that prevents leaks, allowing the cardboard to maintain its resistance when in contact with liquids, wet food or condensation. It has an optimal route in handling and printing machines thanks to its consistent quality.
Carta Dedica is approved for food contact and has a neutral appearance and odor. It is ideal for many different types of food to go, including ice cream, pastries, pastries, sandwiches and burritos, as well as both hot and cold drinks. Without optical brighteners (OBAs), it is made with virgin fibers from sustainably managed Nordic forests. All raw materials used in its production can be traced back to its origin and are free of GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms).
