August 31st, 2020

El Noel feeding group bet on the product segment 'plant-based'. After presenting the first veal analogue vegetable burger produced entirely in our country, it now incorporates in its catalog the first references made in Spain that reproduce chicken and pork.

To cope with the development of these new products, the company has invested 1,3 million euros in technology and R & D & i; Noel is one of the first companies in Spain to acquire technology designed exclusively to achieve an analogous texture of meat in its products made from vegetables.

The 5 new references that are added to its 'Nature' range of meatless products are: Nature Burgers Plant Based of 'veal', 'chicken' and 'chicken with spinach', and Nature Plant Based strips of 'veal' and of chicken'. All of them are made with vegetal proteinThe main innovation is the use of pea protein in hamburgers, while soy is used for the rest of the products. In addition, they have a unique composition, the result of a year of research, through which the flavor and texture of chicken and beef are achieved.

The new products will be marketed in the retail channel in two formats: a cardboard tray with two 113g units each, for the burgers, and a 160 g cardboard tray, for the strips. In the HORECA channel, the company also plans to distribute it as an ingredient in other products or in frozen format.

Before the end of 2020, Noel also plans to incorporate the equivalent of minced beef in a 'plant-based' format, as well as that of pork through references such as chorizo or sausages. All the 'plant-based' options in the 'Nature' range have the V-Label seal, which certifies that they are suitable for vegans.

The new 'plant-based' launches are aligned with the company's strategy in sustainability and all references have cardboard packaging, thus reducing plastic by 90% compared to other similar product packaging.
