New Domino Printing Solution for Pharmaceutical Applications

February 18th 2021

Domino Printing Sciences presents the new K600G, a solution of digital printing on blister reels and foils for serialization of products in pharmaceutical applications

La K600G has been developed in collaboration with Gallarus, a company dedicated to innovation in the pharmaceutical sector, and with the participation of SeaVision.

"Over the past two years, packaging serialization has become an international requirement in the pharmaceutical industry," he says. Craig stobie, Director of Global Sector Development at Domino. “In the future, serialization of individual blister doses is likely to become the new norm, in order to further improve patient safety and reduce medical errors. The K600G has been developed to provide manufacturers with an on-site solution for variable data printing, including item-level encoding, to address these future requirements, "he adds.

The new K600G incorporates a variety of features that have been developed for different types of installations, including encoding of sealed blisters offline, next to the line or on the line for direct printing on formed blisters, and an integrated in-line version designed to meet the needs of OEMs.

The printer, based on Domino's DOD (Drop-On-Demand) piezoelectric inkjet technology, is also capable of creating images with several different drop sizes, improving image quality and giving manufacturers more control over their ink consumption.

The system can also be supplied with unique AI software that collects and analyzes factory data and learns from it to deliver smart manufacturing solutions.
