In order to be able to promote the traceability of large-scale reusable packaging, a consortium of entities is developing the project 'Track & Trace Reuse', whose objective is to manage the traceability and control of the use of industrial packaging through a collaborative digital system in a more viable and sustainable way.
In the words of Jesús Pérez, director of the Packaging and Packaging Innovation Cluster, coordinator of this initiative, "packaging traceability is one of the key points of the new Royal Decree on Packaging and Packaging Waste". The project is co-financed by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism (MINCOTUR).
It is an innovation of Heura Environmental Management, together with the company nettrim technology and TECNARA Cluster de Aragón, whose purpose is "to achieve a complete digitization of our packaging reuse model development service, which responds to an important need of companies and which will mean progress in this area," he explains. José Guaita, President of Heura Gestió Ambiental.
This solution is based on information technologies to provide the different actors involved in the packaging life cycle with all the facilities to guarantee their traceability and control through an advanced tracking system, making use of the “latest development technologies for web applications and with the security and robustness of a cloud-based infrastructure”, Highlights Francisco Mir, CEO of Nettrim Technology, a company of the ÂTTRIM Impact Technology Group that is in charge of the technological development of the system.
collaboration ecosystem
The 'Track & Trace Reuse' proposal is to generate a collaborative ecosystem that guarantees the maximum amount of information to achieve the controlled and safe reuse of packaging, “while facilitating a simple and adapted use for each type of user involved”, as detailed Jose Guaita.
This technological solution allows the different types of containers to be configured in an accessible and dynamic way and to model their own characteristics, adapting to each organization. In the same way, through various systems for recording status, monitoring and accessibility, the platform focuses on each user the relevant information that they need to see at all times, adapting the functionality in a personalized way through a powerful system of configurable roles and permissions. It is also capable of adapting to different types of devices, depending on the needs of each actor involved in the packaging life cycle.
Finally, this project has a total budget of more than €300.000, as well as financing through the Next Generation funds of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism (MINCOTUR) and is part of the 2022 line of aid directed to the Innovative Business Groups (AEI), approved by the General Directorate of Industry and Small and Medium Enterprises.
