Orkla chooses Mondi's sustainable packaging

February 23th 2021

Worlds, world leader in packaging and paper, has created three types of sustainable packaging for a new range of vegan products from the food manufacturer Orkla.

The consumer goods company worked closely with Mondi to create sustainable high-performance packaging suitable for launch in Sweden Frankful®, their plant-based Tex Mex range that includes flour tortillas, nachos and taco spices.

The three Frankful products® benefit from custom-made packaging that extends shelf life, balances portion control and is recyclable. Original flour tortillas will be one of the first food products to be packaged in the BarrierPack Recyclable from Mondi, which uses a lightweight, high-barrier monomaterial and a reclosable tape to keep food fresh in its original packaging and thus avoid waste.

The taco spice mix is packaged in a paper-based laminate, created from FSC certified paperand a sheet made from renewable resources. The high paper content ensures that it is suitable for Swedish paper recycling streams.

The nachos stay crisp and fresh thanks to the metal-free high barrier laminate from Mondi, a new completely recyclable solution that eliminates the need for a metallic coating, maintains freshness, and prevents grease leakage.
