Out of the Box – Beyond by Fedrigoni, a collection of papers

Fedrigoni

According to a study Bain & Company in collaboration with Fedrigoni Group, half of luxury packaging leaders expect sustainable solutions to represent more than 30% of sales in three years. At Luxe Pack 2025, Fedrigoni highlighted alternative materials, in line with this trend, with its collection Out of the Box – Beyond de papers for the world of luxury, which goes beyond cellulose, encompassing a wide variety of by-products from industrial processes that reduce the use of virgin fibers.

Industrial by-products are secondary raw materials that can be reused thanks to their specific characteristics, which prepare them for other applications, such as papers with cotton linters, recycled textiles, recycled cotton, recycled bagasse and mineral pigments.

Part of the offer is dedicated to alternative fibers, such as hempCompared to traditional fibers, these annual fibers reduce the amount of land needed to produce the same amount of cellulose, thanks to the plant's rapid growth.

There is also a special section for custom solutions: personalized projects tailored to customer needs. These include papers made from miscanthus, grass, wool or cocoa shells, products often supplied by the brands themselves to create exclusive papers with unique finishes and textures. Each custom development enhances the brand's identity, combines luxury with responsibility, and gives the materials a second life.

The Beyond concept is fully realized in Terrae, a paper made with recycled fibers and colored with natural mineral pigments. Terrae is available in three colors: Desert Sand, a warm ochre shade derived from clay extraction in Burgundy; Light Umber, sourced from fertile soil extracted seasonally to allow for regeneration; and Iron Grey, whose intensity is due to a black pigment recovered as a byproduct of coal processing in Germany.

Another proposal is Bagassa, a new paper made from the residual fibers from sugarcane processing. Recovering the remaining fiber after pressing significantly reduces waste. Clearly visible on the paper's surface, the fiber itself becomes a distinctive feature.

All materials are carefully selected to ensure transparency and a circular process, in line with the brands' sustainability goals. In this context, special attention is paid to papers made with cotton linters: short fibers that remain attached to the cotton seed after ginning. Too fine for the textile industry, they are ideal for papermaking. The sourcing of linters is rigorously controlled to ensure they come from responsible supply chains.

Out of the Box – Beyond also includes a set of 16 inspiring print samples, one for each paper range in the collection.

Finally, Materia Viva Roots is a collection made with recycled fibers that includes 9 families, 21 types of paper, 61 shades, and endless creative possibilities.
