Packaging Première & PCD Milan opens its doors today, May 21, until the 23rd in Milan, Italy. In addition to the exhibition program, which in this edition has around 310 companies, it offers a series of collateral projects that further enrich the experience.
“Edition after edition we implement collateral projects that cover a wide range of topics and interests, to offer a complete and attractive experience to all our visitors and provide a unique opportunity to explore the fascinating world of packaging in all its dimensions,” says Pier Paolo Ponchia , founder and director of Packaging Première.
Dom Pérignon, Bally, Pantone, Garnier, Kiko are just some of the names that will take the stage to debate the most current topics in the world of luxury, packaging and design: from Korean cosmetics to sensory marketing, from AI to 3D printing, from sustainability to innovative materials.
X-Rite Pantone, a global leader in color, will host a session exploring the technical aspects and fundamentals of color and its use in the management of the design and printing industry.
Four top-level agencies specialized in packaging design for wines and spirits (Advision, BasileADV, Officina Grafica and O,nice! Design Studio) will present their projects at Design Hub.
Materially, an independent consulting company and leading Italian reference in materials research and development, will create a Materials Library to present visitors and exhibitors with the most innovative materials for packaging.
Two exhibitions
GINnasium is a creative exercise that involves for the first time a neuromarketing study with the end consumer. Five designers have conceived two bottles of gin inspired by their region (Lazio, Abruzzo, Campania, Apulia, Sicily), which will be displayed in the conference room area.
Paper Posh is an augmented imagination project conceived by artists Andrea Filippi and Gabriele Moschin: fourteen shopping bags created using Artificial Intelligence software.
Avant-Garde, innovation in packaging
Packaging Première and PCD Milan have announced the winning projects of Avant-Garde, which offers an in-depth look at the most innovative solutions in the packaging sector, developed by exhibitors and design agencies. Selected projects are displayed in an area of the fair and winners will receive their prize during a ceremony on May 23 in the conference room.
Divided into three categories -innovative materials, sustainability in the production chain and in the realization of the proposal, and innovative design for aesthetics, design and functionality for the brand and the consumer-, the projects were evaluated by a jury made up of experts from the industry.
The winning project in the category of innovative materials es Esacote® BIO BC 100 from Lamberti, with Special Mention to Qwarzo® technology.
Esacote® BIO BC 100 is a 100% biological coating obtained from tomato skins through an innovative patented process, which offers excellent barrier properties against water, fats and oils, respecting the principles of sustainability and circularity.
Qwarzo® offers an invisible mineral-based coating (silica) that improves the performance of the material it covers, particularly paper, creating a barrier without compromising its recyclability or compostability and offering an unprecedented sensory experience.
The winning project in the category of sustainability es Rinascimento of CM Cartotecnica Moderna and Icma Sartorial Paper, a 100% recycled paper produced in a circular economy from waste paper generated by CM Cartotecnica.
The winner of the category design es Ungsam Vital Ginseng Packaging by Revation In collaboration with Ungsam, a project that redefined the traditional approach to ginseng packaging, making it unique thanks to a majestic representation of the mountains and the sleeve design that captures the essence of ginseng's highly concentrated flavor.
