On Wednesday, June 15, the awards ceremony took place. ADI Awards 2022, organized by the Industrial Design Association ADI-FAD. These are awards that bring together the main recognitions in the field of industrial and product design in Spain: the Delta Awards, for industrial design professionals and companies, awarded since 1961; the ADI medals, for product design students, delivered since 1976; and the ADI Culture Awards, which recognizes projects that value the culture of design since 2016. The award ceremony is the act in which the winners of the three calls are announced, within the framework of Barcelona Design Week.
The 172 products selected and winners of the three awards that make up the ADI Awards are part of the exhibition «The Best Design of the Year», which includes the more than five hundred selected projects and winners of the various awards organized by the FAD associations, and which can be visited at the Disseny Hub Barcelona until the 28 of August of 2022.
The jury highlights those projects that recover traditional forms and materials, offer new tools for contemporary life and are more respectful of the environment.
El ADI Culture Gold Award has gone to MaDe – Materials Designers (Laura Cleries, Valentina Rognoli & Seetal Solanki), from Elisava Research, Politecnico di Milano and Ma-tt-er. MaDe is a project co-financed by the Creative Europe Program of the EU, which promotes young talent towards circular economies.
The two ADI Gold Medals ex aequo fall on projects of a social nature: Balisa by Ariadna Sala Nadal (Elisava), who makes visible the problem of child sexual abuse, and Sway by Xueyu Ji (IED Madrid), a measurement system adapted to blind people.
2022 Delta Awards
The jury, made up of Sabine Marcelis, Alessandro Riga, Clara Guasch, Aleix Ingles and Aurelie Tu, awarded 7 Gold Delta, 14 Silver Delta, 1 Delta Mention and 124 Bronze Delta. En the category Packaging, It is worth highlighting the Silver Delta award to Simon 270, designed by Simon's design department. It is a durable, practical and sustainable packaging that avoids having to dye the entire box using the kraft color and the corporate color.
The ADI-FAD board granted the Delta Career Award to BD Barcelona Design, publishing company founded by a group of architects with a vocation for design that for 50 years has been able to build a transgressive business model, helping to project the value of design as a phenomenon inseparable from culture.
