La International Paper Twin Pizza Box has been chosen as one of the “100 Best Ideas of 2024” in the Sustainability category, a recognition given annually by El Mundo magazine Actualidad Económica to highlight the best products and services launched on the Spanish market in the last year.
La Twin Pizza Box It is an intelligent solution that redefines the market by having a design that facilitates transportation and the way of consuming pizza. It is a double box that can contain two pizzas in the space of one, thanks to its innovative Z structure that allows easy access to both products during consumption. In addition, to ensure a complete experience, the box includes two triangles that can be separated to use as plates when consuming the portions and thus avoid the use of other materials.
Its design means greater logistical efficiency, cost savings and greater comfort for both the end customer and the carrier. However, what stands out most is that it reduces the cardboard used by 17% compared to two complete boxes, achieving better use of resources. Plus, it's 100% recyclable, making the box even more sustainable.
This box, designed in Spain, has also received the Liderpack Award for 'Best Food Packaging' in 2023 and the WorldStar Award in the 'e-Commerce' category in 2024.
ATEF Award
International Paper has received the third ATEF prize in the corrugated cardboard category, a competition held annually by the Spanish Flexography Technical Group (ATEF) in which the best national flexography designs are highlighted.
This award recognizes the design work of the International Paper beverage display. It is a solution made of corrugated cardboard with coated paper on the outside, which allows high printing quality; with semichemical papers on the waves, to protect the product during storage and transportation; and with white recycled paper inside, so that the product stands out at the point of sale.
One of the outstanding characteristics of this work is its size, which reaches almost 2 square meters. These dimensions present significant technical challenges when it comes to printing, especially when combining photographic images with high-intensity, high-contrast dark backgrounds.

International Paper collects, sorts and processes more than 6 million metric tons of recovered paper and cardboard each year around the world. In Spain, it has ten packaging manufacturing plants that are mainly supplied with recycled paper manufactured on the production line in Madrid. This is supplied entirely of cardboard thanks to the Madrid-based recycler, Carpa (Cartón y Papel Reciclado, SA), which collects and recycles the recovered paper that it converts into raw material for the plants, providing nearly 480.000 tons of paper and cardboard. recycling of which 180.000 come from loose cardboard in different producers in the central area of Spain. This company adds its efforts to International Paper's leadership in the recycling industry.
The recycler has more than 40 years of experience in the country and three waste treatment and recovery warehouses in Fuenlabrada, Vicálvaro and Toledo. Its main activity is the collection of used paper and cardboard for recycling at the Fuenlabrada (Madrid) plant where it is transformed into high quality recycled paper that is subsequently distributed to the International Paper plants where it is used to create new packaging, being part of a circular economy cycle.
