Plastics recycling and circular economy

According to the annual report of Hi Cone on "The State of Plastics Recycling», Which explains the habits and beliefs around recycling in Spain, the United States, the United Kingdom and Mexico, only 39% of Spaniards understand the meaning of the term circular economy, with the age group between 18 and 44 years old showing a higher level of understanding of the term (35%). On the contrary, the group of people 55 years and older shows the lowest level of understanding (24%): only 1 in 4 people can explain the concept exactly.

91% of those surveyed consider that plastic recycling is beneficial for the environment. Shawn welch, Vice President and General Director of Hi-Cone, has commented: «Spain is one of the countries with the best recycling infrastructure, therefore, what is needed is to implement education plans in schools and companies to raise awareness among the population of the importance of recycling. On the other hand, we want to improve the infrastructure where necessary and reuse the plastic, so that it does not end up in landfills.

In this sense, Hi-Cone participated in the last edition of 1m2 against garbage beauty 2021 of LIBERA, a project created by SEO / BirdLife in alliance with Ecoembes, thus joining thousands of volunteers with the aim of fighting against abandoned garbage in spaces. natural.
