Recircular launches a new version of its digital platform for the valorisation of waste and industrial assets

22th October 2024

recirculate

recirculate has found solutions to give a second life to more than 15 tons of waste and other industrial equipment and materials, contributing to generating economic benefits of more than 000 million euros for its clients and reducing the emission of more than 1 tons of CO15 equivalent.

With the new version of the platform, the start-up introduces new technologies and functionalities that make this innovative tool a more robust and intelligent system, key in the planned scaling and internationalization phase. The ultimate goal is to prevent recyclable waste and other resources from ending up in landfills, generating a positive environmental and social impact in the process.

The new platform, in addition to an updated design, incorporates various technologies and functionalities that improve its performance, making it an essential application for companies. Among the improvements, the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) stands out; the recording of the traceability of resources, including the necessary reprocessing, with the possibility of using Blockchain (in collaboration with the start-up iCommunity); the generation of waste management documentation through Teimas; and, the improvement of the impact calculation.

A circular economy solution for companies

In this phase, Recircular wants to consolidate the circular processes that are being promoted in different industrial sectors and increase its value proposition for companies. The industrial sector needs practical solutions that allow it to comply with regulatory requirements and social demands, as well as access raw materials of more sustainable origin and available at a national level.

In this way, the platform facilitates access to second-hand materials and equipment for reuse, also offering the possibility of selling waste and surplus generated, for all types of companies, regardless of sector or size.

The operation of the new platform is notable for its simplicity. The first step is the registration of the entity, a requirement that allows for the creation of an environment of trust.

Once registered, the entity can publish its resources, request specific materials and purchase products from other users. The AI-powered algorithm facilitates the connection between companies registered on the platform by analyzing the different profiles and operations carried out.

In addition to being able to request samples and ask questions, the platform allows you to complete the purchase within the system with a secure payment gateway. Recircular acts as guarantor of the transaction.

This tool allows the calculation of the environmental and social benefits generated through the Impact Measurement Methodology developed by Recircular and verified by SGS. The platform generates a downloadable report that includes indicators for reducing the carbon footprint, reducing water and energy consumption, and improving human health, which can be used in non-financial reports and sustainability and circular economy strategies of companies.

Users also have the possibility of carrying out detailed monitoring of all processes, including reprocessing, resource traceability with geolocation or generation of evidence.

Recircular's proposal has been recognised by different institutions, such as the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, through various subsidies, and the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, which included Recircular in the 1st Guide to Good Practices in the Circular Economy. It has also received important awards at national and international level.

The new platform has been developed within the framework of the project “Implementation of AI and blockchain in a digital platform for the valorisation of industrial resources for the reuse and recycling of waste, surpluses and unused materials and equipment”, beneficiary of the call for subsidies for the promotion of the circular economy in the company for the year 2022 from the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) financed by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
