Rotor Print by SPG It reinforces its positioning towards more sustainable pharmaceutical packaging, thanks to the recyclability certification of its metallized PO triplex structure, validated by Institut cyclos-HTP, which achieves an 88% recyclability.
This certification represents a key endorsement for a solution specifically designed to meet current packaging challenges: reducing the environmental impact of packaging without compromising barrier properties, product safety, or compliance with the most demanding technical standards.
The new structure developed by Rotor Print by SPG allows for the replacement of conventional non-recyclable materials with a metallized PO triplex that maintains the necessary performance for pharmaceutical applications, especially in terms of protection against moisture, oxygen, and other external agents that can affect the stability and safety of the drug.
This advancement extends to related sectors such as parapharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food supplements, and veterinary medicine. The solution is specifically designed for flowpack applications for sensitive products.
From a technical point of view, the structure —based on polyolefins (PP and PE)— has demonstrated high compatibility with existing recycling processes, with correct identifiability in NIR systems, absence of inseparable contaminants and optimal performance in the sorting and reprocessing phases.
“Sustainability is no longer an option, but a strategic priority for the pharmaceutical sector. Our goal is to support our clients in this transition with solutions that combine innovation, safety, and industrial viability,” says Santiago Olivares, Head of Applied Innovation and Technical Training at Rotor Print by SPG.
The validation obtained from Institut cyclos-HTP lends credibility and confirms the brand's ability to develop complex structures with a high level of recyclability. Furthermore, the structure has already been approved by clients in the pharmaceutical sector, validating its technical viability and its suitability to the industry's specific requirements.
