Sappi continues to expand its Alfeld Specialty Papers Competency Center with the new Paper Lab.

With the opening of the paper lab, Paper Lab, Sappi continues to expand the Specialty Center of Papers and Boards at its Alfeld factory. “This lab will allow us to make a huge quality leap,” says Kristof Mertens, Sappi's director of quality control. "The facilities are equipped with the latest technologies to test the quality of special papers."
The opening of the Paper Laboratory is a further step in the expansion of Sappi's specialty papers division, following the renovation of the PM 2 paper machine, which involved an investment of around 61 million euros and was inaugurated last year . With a millionaire investment, the company has replaced the test line of the climatological laboratory. The Testing Laboratory, which incorporates the most advanced technologies and allows to measure more grammages –from 18 to 400 g / m2–, is a world leading center for the analysis of specialty papers and boards. The new lab is expected to analyze more than 281.000 master rolls or paper reels per year, which translates to some XNUMX measurements annually.
