Sealed Air collaborates with the e-commerce company Quomi

January 11, 2021

Based in Milan, Italy, the online sales company for fresh food kits quomi hired the services of Sealed Air to tackle the problem of food waste.

By changing packaging to TempGuardTM from Sealed Air, Quomi has reduced the food waste by 7%, improving end customer satisfaction and brand perception by offering sustainable packaging for home deliveries through the use of easily recyclable paper packaging

Andrew Bruno, Co-Founder of Quomi, said: “The temperature-controlled plastic bags and branded delivery boxes that we used to protect and keep orders fresh were not 100% effective and produced food waste after shipment. For this reason, we urgently needed a sustainable protective material that has improved insulating properties to keep food fresh, as well as being easily recyclable in our customers 'homes.'

Giovanni Masciali, Strategic Account Manager at Sealed Air, explained: “Sealed Air TempGuardTM is designed for shipping prepackaged temperature sensitive products. Offers excellent thermal insulation and a layer of protective padding. This combination ensures that the meal kit reaches the end consumer in optimum quality, while also providing easy to recycle paper packaging.

Andrea Bruno added: “Furthermore, as a result of our collaboration with Sealed Air, we are in contact with one of the most important fish producers in Italy, supplying fish packed with Cryovac® technology in tray skin. This allows us to protect seafood during transport and ensures a premium packaging feel. '
