Smurfit Kappa announces the 'Better Planet Packaging Design Challenge'

February 4th 2019

Smurfit Kappa, a leader in the corrugated paper and cardboard packaging, has launched the 'Better Planet Packaging Design Challenge' within the framework of its sustainability strategy. Through its call, it offers the possibility of presenting packaging solutions to reduce the amount of non-recyclable waste that is generated on a daily basis.
The challenge of sustainability that Smurfit Kappa raises through this contest, in which engineers, designers, inventors and creative professionals from any sector and entity can participate, is twofold. On the one hand, the company invites you to develop an alternative solution to the stretch plastic film that is currently used to wrap pallets and guarantee their stability during transport and storage. On the other, it encourages them to create a paper-based packaging solution for chocolates that is capable of keeping them at a suitable temperature and allows their distribution in the e-commerce channel.
People who wish to participate in the 'Better Planet Packaging Design Challenge' can present their solutions here to solve one or both of the packaging design challenges until March 29, 2019. The winner of each of the challenges raised by the competition will receive 8 euros and their solution will be exhibited at the Innovation Event that Smurfit Kappa will celebrate in Amsterdam in May 000.
