AIMPLAS, the Plastics Technology Institute, is leading an innovative research project, DECONWASTE, focused on improving the recycling of plastic packaging and enabling its safe reuse in contact with food. The project seeks to research and develop new ways to clean and decontaminate plastics.

Borealis and ITC Packaging have jointly developed a number of new and more sustainable rigid packaging formats that are suitable for food contact. Partners used resins from the Borcycle™ C and Bornewables™ ranges to enhance a number of iconic food packaging formats found on supermarket shelves.
