Barcelona Packaging Hub, In collaboration with B&R, organized on February 20th a Technical day dedicated to innovation in the packaging industry. The event, held at the facilities of ABB Group, brought together machinery manufacturers, integrators and technology experts to analyse the latest trends in automation and digitalisation in the sector.
During the event, attendees were able to learn first-hand about advanced solutions from B&R and ABB Robotics, focused on improving the efficiency, flexibility and customization of production processes. Among the main topics discussed were automation in all phases of packaging, the optimization of robotic paths and the impact of digitalization on decision-making.
Wlady Martino, Global Industry Segment Manager at B&R, presented the advantages of mass customization and its compatibility with large-scale production. He explained how technologies such as ACOPOS 6D are revolutionizing the sector by eliminating downtime and facilitating format changes without the need for hardware modifications, allowing for production that is more adaptable to market demand.
For its part, Xavier Piferrer, Food & Beverage Segment Manager at ABB Robotics, presented various applications of robotics in packaging, including high-speed picking, packing with anthropomorphic and delta robots, as well as palletizing in production lines. In addition, he highlighted the use of advanced simulation tools such as RobotStudio, which optimize production and reduce costs by up to 30%, increasing productivity by 20%.
With this event, Barcelona Packaging Hub reinforces its commitment to technological innovation in the packaging sector, promoting the implementation of advanced solutions among its members to improve the efficiency and sustainability of their production processes.
