Tetra Pak and Genosa sign a strategic alliance

April 27th 2021

Tetra Pak and Genosa have reached a strategic agreement for the development of functional oils in aseptic cartons, that ensure the integrity and protection of the food during its period of consumption through a more packaging sustainable financing model.

This strategic alliance will begin its implementation with products from the extra virgin olive oil. Tetra Pak's aseptic packaging allows olive oils with a high content of naturally occurring polyphenols to maintain their organoleptic qualities intact throughout their consumption period.

According to the regulation EC 1924/2006, approved by the European Commission, it is rigorous compliance to inform the consumer, through the labeling of olive oil, of those oils that have minimum concentrations of polyphenols, which contribute to the protection of lipids in blood against oxidative stress.

In the initial phase, the formats chosen are Tetra Prisma® Aseptic 1000 ml and 500 ml already existing, but work is being done to expand the portfolio of containers for oil. In addition, as they are mainly made of cardboard, from responsibly managed forests and other controlled sources (FSC certification), they are composed mainly of renewable raw material and their carbon footprint is lower than other packaging alternatives.
