El Laus of Honor award It is the recognition of a trajectory of significant contributions to the profession and the culture of graphic design. In past editions, renowned professionals from América Sanchez (2020), Ana Zelich (2019), Oscar Mariné (2018), Enric Aguilera (2017), Yves Zimmermann (2016) or Raquel Pelta (2015) have been distinguished with this award.
This year, that the ADG Laus awards celebrate 51 editions, ADG-FAD honors the trajectory and legacy of Tony Miserachs for her contribution to the definition of the profession and teaching, for her tireless work with the association of professionals and for recognizing female leadership in a sector where women have been almost invisible, and even today it is far from achieving the visibility that corresponds to them by number of professionals and quality of their work.
Toni (Maria Antònia) Miserachs y Ribalta was born in Barcelona in 1942. He studied graphic design at the Elisava School in Barcelona (1962-1965). His first professional apprenticeship was in the Propaganda Department of Geigy Pharmaceutical Laboratories in 1963-1966, under the direction of Yves Zimmermann. In the period 1966-1967 he worked at the company Industrias Gráficas Francesc Casamajó. In 1965 she opened her own design studio, which she maintained until 2009. She was a founding member of the Visual Communication Group of FAD (1971) and of the Association of Professional Designers (ADP), of which she was president during the period. 1994 - 1997. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the FAD (Foment de les Arts i del Disseny) between 2009 and 2012.
Toni Miserachs was linked to the trajectory of the Eina School since its inception in 1967. She also taught at the Massana School during the 1975-1976 academic year.
His works and clients include both public institutions and private companies. The types of work carried out are anagrams and logos, such as the legendary Barcelonan nightclub Bocaccio, corporate graphic image applications, communication materials, space signage, posters or ex-libris. In addition, a large part of its activity is dedicated to editorial graphic design. In 1989 he created the Blanc de Fil company, together with Roser Giralt and Eulàlia Serra, dedicated to textile design.
The ADG Laus 2021 awards in the contest categories will be made public during the Nit ADG Laus, the traditional award ceremony that, this year due to the pandemic, will be broadcast in streaming through the ADG YouTube channel. FAD on June 10 at 19:30 p.m., presented by Òscar Dalmau and with the participation of all the winners.
