Preservatives in eye care formulations, such as benzalkonium chloride (BAC), can cause side effects with chronic use. The SteriDrop™ tubing (Neopac) for eye drops without preservatives combines the characteristics of the tube with the Ophthalmic Squeeze Dispenser (OSD) from Aptar Pharma.
The packaging concept now proves to be conducive to protect preservative-free eye drops from microbiological contamination before, during and after initial use by the consumer. The SteriDrop™ tube can hold volumes up to 30 mL, which can easily cover a three-month supply of daily eye treatment.
