ITENE presented the latest developments in packaging materials at the FachPack 2013 fair, as a new material patented by the research center arising from the application of nano-clays to biopolymers. Overcomes drawbacks of existing biopolymers, by dispersing nano-scale reinforcements in the biopolymer matrix (PLA). In the field of smart packaging, ITENE showed innovative indicators, such as the colorimetrics of freshness.
Among other novelties, samples of active packaging were also presented to repel insects by incorporating natural essential oils, as well as films and active separators that preserve sliced cheese and ham, through the use of natural antioxidants.
