UPM Raflatac launches its new Samples for Wines, spirits, beverages and premium labellingAvailable in a compact, larger-scale format in the EMEIA market, they enable printers, brands and designers to evaluate the texture, colour and aesthetics of a wide range of high-quality label materials.
“Sample books are essential tools for printers and designers, as they provide a visual and tactile feel for label materials. Our goal was to present our solutions in a way that was user-friendly and unique and inspiring for the target market,” he describes. The swatches feature UPM Raflatac’s SmartChoice™ paper and film solutions, featuring recycled content materials and renewable or resource-optimized raw materials. Detailed product information for these and other solutions is available via QR codes throughout the swatches. Examples of featured SmartChoice solutions include:
– Carbon Action PP UCO, an ISCC PLUS certified biocircular face film made with 30% renewable content on a mass balance basis, allowing for a quantified reduction in the carbon footprint.
– Forest Film, the world’s first ISCC-certified wood-based plastic label material.
– Ocean Action, the world’s first certified label material to combat plastic pollution entering the ocean.
– Drops WSA PCR-FSC, a unique textured paper with a 100% recycled fibre content.
To develop the sample design, UPM Raflatac collaborated with the design agency freshman, winner of several Pentawards, and the printing press Graphic“The beautiful design of the new sample books is inspired by UPM’s Finnish heritage and Nordic nature. This, combined with innovation and design traditions, is showcased in the new sample books, which feature shapes resembling Finnish lakes and an innovative aesthetic inspired by nature,” he says. The samples will be officially exhibited for the first time at Packaging Première, part of Paris Packaging Week 2025, taking place on 28 and 29 January.
