UPM Raflatac

UPM Raflatac has received recognition RecyClass for their pPE films with its multipurpose UV acrylic adhesive technology. The recognition expands UPM Raflatac's portfolio of RecyClass approved PE (polyethylene) label materials. These materials are recognized to be compatible with the recycling of colored and natural PE flexible films.

“We are working for a more sustainable and circular future. A big part of this is making plastic packaging recyclable. Labels not only serve as information carriers on flexible packaging and packaging films, but also offer a functional purpose, for example as a closure system. “We are proud to be the first self-adhesive label company to offer RecyClass-approved, recycling-friendly labeling solutions for PE flexible packaging,” he says. Katja Kivelä, commercial director of food and HPC, films and specials SBU EMEIA at UPM Raflatac.

RecyClass is an initiative driven by the interest of brands, retailers, converters, raw material producers and recyclers to advance the recyclability of plastic packaging to improve recyclability and recycling quality. With its scientific approach, RecyClass improves and evaluates the recyclability of plastic packaging by developing the methodologies and guidelines necessary to evaluate the recyclability of packaging.
