Verallia invests 30 million euros to install one of the largest glass furnaces in the world

Plant Veralia Azuqueca inaugurated its new furnace and facilities in the presence of its main customers, suppliers and local authorities, in a ceremony chaired by Jean-Pierre Floris, president and CEO of Verallia and José Luis Blanco, mayor of Azuqueca de Henares, along with other local authorities and regional

With the new oven, Verallia Azuqueca is capable of manufacturing 2 million containers per day (more than 500 jars per minute). It is the largest of the company worldwide, in addition to being more sustainable by reducing CO02 emissions per ton of glass melted.

During the event, Jean-Pierre Floris stressed that "Verallia continues to invest with a long-term vision, in order to constantly improve our quality, flexibility and productivity."

The renovation of Azuqueca confirms Verallia's commitment to sustainable development, reducing the consumption of virgin raw materials and optimizing its capacity to include recycled glass. In addition, all kinds of improvements in food safety and the working conditions of its employees have been introduced, such as new ergonomic workstations protected from noise and heat and improvements in lighting.

Azuqueca is the oldest Verallia factory in Spain and specializes in the production of food jars.
