Vidrala presents the winning project of the VI edition of its MasterGlass contest

The jury of the contest MasterGlass, organized by vidrala in collaboration with University of Deusto and Eide, has announced the winning project as well as three second prize. In its sixth edition, with three possible categories to participate in, various aspects such as innovation, originality, functionality, feasibility and sustainability have been valued.

The purpose of the contest is to search for new ideas among students of industrial or graphic design, engineering or graphic arts from all over Spain and Portugal. 

The jury for this edition has been made up of:
Pepe Gimeno (Designer and National Design Award in 2020).
Maria Fontes (Head of the NUDE Hall at Feria Hábitat Valencia)
Olaia Irulegi (Industrial Designer and President of EIDE).
Marcelo leslabay (Industrial Designer and Professor at the University of Deusto).
Asier Extebarria (Industrial Technical Engineer and Design Director at Vidrala).

The court wishes to thank the participation and highlights the quality and its approach to the sustainability of the works presented. The jury has unanimously selected the following projects:

First Prize: OLIE

The packaging conveys the content and the segment to which it is intended, clearly communicates what it contains without sacrificing the simplicity and elegance of its design. The design of its forms strongly contributes to highlighting the contained product that has the potential to focus on both the food and catering channels. It has the potential to be industrializable. Its authors are Ana Ribeiro and João Freitas from the University of Aveiro

Second prize: CHI

A project that has stood out for its innovative commitment, using a metal lid solution to improve convenience, user experience, as well as logistics thanks to the possibility of being stackable. Starting from a design that avoids complexity, its cover and label innovations manage to do something special. The project team is made up of Helena Maestre and Álvaro Pardo from EASD Alcoi.

Second prize: DOIS FINS

It stands out for its suggestive shapes that reinforce beauty. In addition, it effectively solves various situations of use thanks to its cover. It has the potential to become a decorative object after its primary use, thus betting on upcycling or upcycling. The author is Marcos Neves from the University of Coimbra.

Second prize: SNACKIT          

A proposal that draws on the trends of nomadism as well as picnic and outdoor experiences, thanks to its handle that provides ergonomics and practicality. Likewise, the different uses that the lid provides provide a plus of practicality and originality. Its authors are Bárbara Cruz and João Paulino from the University of Aveiro.

The awards ceremony will be held together with the winners of the last edition throughout the last quarter of the year, provided that the social and health conditions allow it.
