The Touchsensor 4.0 innovation project begins

November 1th 2021

CEP touch sensor

The collaborative innovation project TOUCHSENSOR 4.0, coordinated by the Spanish Plastics Center (CEP) with the participation of Gaiker Technology Center, Analysis and Simulation y Larrañaga Plastics is in execution, with the aim of obtain new products by injection with tactile functionality in a certain area of its surface.

This development allows the injected parts to have interaction sensitivity with them. This new capacity, linked to artificial intelligence, is widely applied in the development of all kinds of interaction pieces with people.

Obtaining tactile functionality on surfaces of parts transformed by injection opens the doors to important markets such as automotive, robotics, household appliances or telephony.

For example, this technology can be applied to car interior parts, household appliance housings, robotics parts, especially in collaborative robotics and robotics aimed at the care of the elderly and health, among others.

Touchsensor 4.0 is a project that is based on the good results obtained by the Polysensor 4.0 project, with polymer-based materials with sensorial and processable properties through Additive Manufacturing and Injection.

The Touchsensor 4.0 project has been financed by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism through the aid program to support Innovative Business Groups (AEI) in order to improve the competitiveness of small and medium-sized companies.
