“Ice” from ESEIAAT (UPC) has won the first prize in the second edition of the MasterGlass contest by vidrala. There have also been three second prize for the projects: “Encuentro”, “ACE” and “hERA”.

The purpose of the contest was to search for new ideas among students from Industrial Design, Engineering or Graphic Arts from all over Spain. The participants have contributed more than 50 proposals. The jury was made up of the Juli Capella and Mario Ruiz National Design Awards, as well as Professor Marcelo Leslabay and Jon Abad from EIDE.

First Prize: ICE Pure Icelandic Water

The jury has awarded this project for its high communication skills. The team of designers consisted of: Santiago Garau de Meer, Xavi Anducas and Huijun Jiang. It is a transparent glass bottle that immediately conveys the sensation of pure and frozen water, emphasized by a sober graphic application of the brand that does not interfere visually to see the content. Although the industrialization of this bottle on a large scale is not yet possible, the jury considered that a contest of ideas of young designers must transgress the current limits of manufacture to indicate the direction in which technology should be headed.

Second prize: Meeting

It is a proposal that links two bottles of wine by means of a longitudinal section, a formal solution that allows solving functional problems such as the horizontal stackability of up to 15 bottles or the reduction of space in a shelf, in addition to promoting the sale in pairs of bottles. The authors are Cristina López and Carlos Lobo from the Higher School of Design of the Region of Murcia.

Second prize: ACE
The interactivity that the bottle promotes with the user stands out, as it becomes a shaker thanks to a kit of spices housed inside the aluminum screw cap. They presented the project: Ane de la Brena, Sian Roberson, Igor Romero and Asier Fernández de Antona from Mondragon Unibertsitatea.

Second prize: hERA

The MILK for a new ERA is an elegant clear glass milk bottle. It is presented in a 330 ml container, which is closed with a polyethylene cap that allows it to be closed again once opened. The authors are Ainhoa Irigoien and Garoa Gómez de Tecnun, University of Navarra.
