This year, the 11th edition of the pentawards, a global competition dedicated exclusively to packaging design, was held at the Hotel W in Barcelona. The gala ceremony welcomed about 275 people from the world of packaging design.

The winner of Diamond Pentaward 2017 es Starck Paris (Perfumes and Design), the new collection of perfumes from designer Philippe Starck. It is a collection of three perfumes, feminine, masculine and unisex. The concept was to create three different and independent designs that, when put together, both the jars and the cases, would come together to form a sculpture. The fluid nature of the design creates a connectivity between the three fragrances, which is consistent in all aspects of the set.

The Platinum Pentawards 2017 are:
Drinks: Ryuta Ishikawa (Kirinzan)
Food: Infinite (Candela)
Body: Interbrand Japan (Matsukiyo - Toilet paper)
Others: Angelina Pischikova (CS - Bulbs)
Luxury: Stranger & Stranger Ltd (Ital Spirits - Italicus).

This eleventh edition of the Pentawards received 2.013 participating entries from 5 continents and 54 countries. This shows an increase of almost 10% over the previous year. In addition to the Diamond Pentaward and the 5 Platinum Pentawards, the international jury also awarded 46 Gold Pentawards among the 55 categories competing that year, as well as Silver and Bronze Pentawards awards. In total, 32 countries were among the winners.
