UPM Specialty Papers is strengthening its range of sustainable and recyclable packaging papers with an innovator protective paper made of fiber: UPM Asendo ™ Pro.

UPM Asendo Pro is a double-sided coated paper that provides multiple advantages when it comes to recycling, as it is made up of a single material. The print side of UPM Asendo Pro paper offers an excellent base for printing high-quality images. In addition, its great resistance to grease, its good resistance to humidity and its protective properties against mineral oils keep the products safe.

“We provide premium, sustainable products to replace conventional plastic packaging and increase the number of renewable packaging solutions. UPM Asendo Pro is a cost-effective, durable and safe recyclable liner that meets even the most demanding packaging requirements, helps companies meet their sustainability goals and is compliant with regulatory requirements, "he says. Tommi heinonen, Head of Sales EMEA, UPM Specialty Papers.

UPM Asendo Pro is suitable for dry, greasy and frozen foods, as well as for packaging requiring excellent printing properties. The end uses are diverse, from packaging for non-food products to food end uses; plus, it can be easily converted for additional sealing or protective properties to meet the needs of even more demanding end-uses.

During the development period of this protective paper, UPM worked closely with converters, packaging line manufacturers and brand owners to test product characteristics and receive feedback.

“Collaboration is essential for UPM and has also been a key element during this process. The feedback we received from our collaborating partners as we developed this new protective role was invaluable. UPM Asendo Pro has been expressly created together with our partners and customers. By paying attention to their requests and setting the objective of responding to their needs, both functional and visual, we have added value to the entire value chain and offer them a competitive advantage, "he says. Janne Varvema, Director, Products and Technology, UPM Specialty Papers.
