VI Strategic Immersion of the Packaging Cluster

El Packaging Cluster brought together more than 100 professionals from the packing Within the framework of VI Strategic Immersion, which was held on October 18 and 19 in Sant Cugat del Vallès (Barcelona) with the support of Acció.
The meeting worked on four topics of interest, such as the circular economy; the management and methodologies of innovation; the strategy and tendencies market; and the new opportunities business processes.
In total, there were nine presentations on strategic topics and a round table with entrepreneurs. Likewise, an innovation workshop was held with the Gamestorming methodology to devise new projects in trends for the sector such as smart packaging; sustainable packaging; active packaging; e-commerce and delivery; and servitization, which also served to network among the attendees.

Two intense days
After the welcome of the president of the Cluster, Artur Costa, Héctor Robles, founder of Domo, opened the presentations of the Strategic Immersion, who explained the Honest Strategy movement: 3 keys for the XNUMXst century company, talking about success, happiness and business sustainability. Next, Isidre Esteve, sportsman in the motor world and founder of the Isidre Esteve Foundation, explained keys such as teamwork, preparation and training, confidence and the desire to learn, as pillars to achieve challenges.
The second part of the morning was oriented to the circular economy. On the one hand, Constance Ißbrücker, responsible for environmental affairs at European Bioplastics, explained the present and future state of bioplastics, with the already real possibilities of use in different applications. Next, Javier Peña, director of Elisava and scientific director of Materfad, showed the evolution of materials, showing examples and real possibilities of making packaging with innovative and sustainable materials. In the afternoon, an innovation dynamic was carried out, with a methodology from the book Gamestorming, to promote project ideas among the attendees, which was moderated by the entrepreneur Jordi Cusidó, from Garage Lab. The day concluded with a visit to the demo center of Hewlett-Packard, a partner instead of the entity, who was one of the collaborators of the event.
On the second day, Begoña Hernández, commercial director of Mecalux, spoke about how to differentiate yourself through innovation, with elements such as empathy and creativity as fundamental keys to achieve this. Jordi Armengol, Ferrovial's commercial manager, showed the situation of packaging recycling, with specific data and legislation, focusing on areas of improvement for transitions towards the circular economy. Adriana Presas, Ipsos consultant, presented the main conclusions of a study carried out by the entity, together with other food clusters, where the impact of the digitization of the food sector has been studied.
The field of new business opportunities closed the dive. Anna Busquets, COO of DIME Network, showed tools to promote new business opportunities for start-ups and clients. Ricard Castellet, COO of Barcelona Tech City, spoke about entrepreneurship, highlighting the high global positioning that Barcelona has. Finally, there was a debate with entrepreneurs, in which Marc Bigas, CEO of Skutide, Martina Font, founder of Kartox, and Ricard Berguinzo, CEO of Recircula participated.
