Danone donates 1000 kg per month of baby food products for vulnerable families

April 27th 2020

With the aim of being close to the most vulnerable families, especially in this situation caused by the pandemic derived from Covid-19, Danone has launched a new plan donations of children's products. Thus, the company's specialized nutrition division has committed to donate 3.000 kg of food products for babies older than six months in the next three months to the Food Banks of the cities of Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia.

This new donation is part of the Social Action Program “Alimentar por Amor” of Grupo Danone Spain, which includes three lines of work: guarantee the supply and safety of employees and members of the food chain; support vulnerable groups through donations and collaborations with social entities; and offer support to families in different areas, from nutrition and hydration to education.

In this way, the delivery of these 3.000 kilos of infant food products is now added to the large batch equivalent to more than 35.000 bottles of follow-on milk and cereal porridges recently donated by the company to the Barcelona Food Bank and to the nearby two pallets of baby food that will be made available to the Tenerife Food Bank next week.

According to the latest report from the High Commissioner for the Fight against Child Poverty, in our country more than 123.000 households with no income have been identified where at least one minor resides. Since the beginning of the health crisis, Danone has been committed to collaboration with different social entities to guarantee the coverage of basic needs and provide comprehensive support to the different groups most affected by the current situation.
