Lactalis relaunches its Santal vegetable range in a more sustainable packaging

November 2th 2020

Santal, brand of vegetable drinks from the Lactalis Group, changes the packaging of its vegetable drinks to the new Plant Based packaging of Tetra pak in its commitment to sustainability. From now on, its new varieties of almonds, oats, soybeans, rice and coconut from Santal, 100% vegetable and without added sugar, will be available in a more environmentally friendly packaging, made mainly of cardboard from managed forests of Responsible and other controlled sources and polymers from sugar cane.

El Tetra Brik® Aseptic Slim Plant-based, from Tetra Pak, is Santal's chosen packaging, in the 1L format. It contains 80% of materials from renewable sources. Beyond obtaining the raw materials itself, the plant-based materials used for its manufacture allow minimizing the environmental impact of the packaging throughout the life cycle of the product, reducing CO2 emissions into the atmosphere. This CO2 reduction achieved thanks to the plant origin of the raw materials in the packaging has been certified by the Carbon Trust, a global consultancy on sustainability and climate change.

Since last June, Santal offers a new range of 5 flavors that adapt to the taste of each type of consumer: almond, oatmeal, soy, rice and coconut. They are 100% vegetable, without added sugar and are enriched with calcium and vitamins, such as B6. In addition, they are low in saturated fat and salt and naturally lactose-free, preservatives or colorings.
