Ranpak obtains full FSC® certificate for its paper packaging products

March 30th 2021

Ranpak Holdings Corp. has announced that all of its European manufacturing facilities have obtained a Chain of Custody certificate from Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC) and that, in the future, all packaging products manufactured by Ranpak for the European, Middle Eastern and Asia-Pacific markets will feature the FSC certified.

Circularity is the end goal for sustainable business operations and the use of paper packaging produced from responsibly managed forests helps close the loop. Ranpak packaging materials start their lives in responsibly managed forests and, after use, can be easily recycled through conventional recycling infrastructure or naturally biodegrade without long-term contamination.

“At Ranpak, our goal is to help our customers run their business operations in the most sustainable way possible, without sacrificing efficiency or performance, and by offering FSC-certified products we empower our customers to do exactly this,” he says. Omar asali, President and CEO of Ranpak.

FSC sets standards for responsible forest management and the FSC certified ensures that products come from responsibly managed forests. Today, more than 1,5 million square kilometers of forests are certified by the FSC system worldwide.

"Whether capturing carbon from the atmosphere or safeguarding biodiversity, responsibly managed forests are an essential component for a more sustainable future," he said. David Murgo, Ranpak's CEO of Sustainability. “By setting and enforcing forest responsibility standards, FSC is a leader in ensuring that the world's forests will continue to play a critical role for future generations. The FSC certificate guarantees a reliable and verifiable chain of custody for our products and makes it clear to our customers that using Ranpak products they can be part of the solution, ”explained Murgio.

Since 1972, Ranpak has been a leading provider of paper product protection solutions. Ranpak is part of the Plastic Pollution Coallition, a global alliance working for a world free from plastic pollution, and the Sustainable Packaging Coalition, which brings together sustainable packaging actors to catalyze viable improvements in packaging systems, and to deliver voice on sustainable packaging issues.
