Worlds has teamed up with Japanese consumer goods manufacturer Kao to create a recyclable and lightweight packaging solution dedicated to your products goldwell hair lighteners. The new stand up pouch it reduces the use of plastic without compromising strength and durability, thereby helping Kao and her salon business in their efforts to reduce their environmental footprint.

Goldwell is a salon quality brand of Kao Salon Division, the fourth largest professional hair care business in the world. Its extensive offering of hair care, styling and coloring products also includes a range of hair lightening products created for use in the salon. Previously they were packed in rigid plastic containers, but working with Mondi and following their EcoSolutions approach, Kao is reducing the total amount of plastic in individual packaging by 80%.

Mondi's innovative solution packages powdered products in single material flexible resealable bags, which means they are recyclable. The bag is delivered to the user together with the paper instructions inside a cardboard box, which allows the bag to be stacked when stored, and contributes to a lower carbon footprint compared to the previous packaging alternative.

Empty bags can be folded to ensure efficient transportation to the factory. When filled, they offer optimal product protection, preventing contact with moisture or the entry of steam, which would render it unusable. The packaging is completely safe, as chemicals cannot diffuse through hermetically sealed packaging. For added convenience, the packaging is also easy to reclose, with a recyclable top slider and temperature evidencing membrane.

iris ross, regional sales for Mondi's Consumer Flexibles, says: “The solution we developed with Kao contains a particularly sensitive chemical-based product, so we had to keep safety and quality in mind at all times. The new packaging is completely safe during shipment when full and easy to transport. Kao loves to make appropriate changes for a more sustainable world, while ensuring the high quality and ease of use of its products, in order to offer the best customer experience. It has been a pleasure working with the Kao team in creating this product."
