PEFC will form part of the Forética Board of Directors

From the January 1 on 2023, PEFC will be part of the new Forética Board of Directors, a leading organization in sustainability and corporate social responsibility, whose members were elected at the General Assembly of partners held on September 29. Thus, the new Board of Directors of Forética will have different committees for the period 2023-2024, among which is Ana Belen Noriega, general secretary of PEFC Spain. The rest of the vowels will correspond to Maria Jose Prado (CEMEX EMEA), Mª Carmen Basolas (Chiesi Spain), Cristina Moral (Railway), Javier Blanco (Group Antolin), Henar Lopez (Lactalis Group), Fernando Riano (ILLUNION), Antonio Budía (Microsoft Spain) and on behalf of the NGO partners, Asuncion Ruiz (SEO/BirdLife).

Antonio Budía, Director of Microsoft Spain Partners, has been appointed new president of the Board of Directors and his partner Alberto Granados placeholder image, president of Microsoft Spain, will be the new president of Forética and, therefore, also president of the Spanish Business Council for Sustainable Development.

In addition to the renewal of the presidency, a new Executive Committee has been appointed at the Board of Directors held this Wednesday, November 16 and will be headed by Antonio Budia; Fernando Riaño (ILUNION) in the Vice Presidency; Cristina Moral (Ferrovial) in charge of the General Secretariat; Carmen Basolas (Chiesi) performing the position of Deputy General Secretary, and María José Prado (CEMEX) as Treasurer.

As Alberto Granados has highlighted: «we assume this challenge with enthusiasm and responsibility. We will work on the new Board of Directors to continue consolidating Forética's recognition and reputation at a national and international level, as a benchmark organization in sustainability, reinforcing the environmental, social and good governance areas. Undoubtedly, we are at the moment to increase ambition, accelerate action and strengthen fundamental alliances that allow the necessary sustainable transformation, as established by the Forética strategy”.

Likewise, Antonio Budia has highlighted "the great work carried out by the Forética team in the last four years that has achieved exceptional results and a great impact on its objective of accelerating the sustainability agendas of partner companies and organizations".

At the last meeting of the Board of Directors of the current term, Raul Grijalba, president of Forética's last term, has pointed out that "in these four years Forética has tripled the number of promoter partners, has consolidated the creation of the Spanish Business Council for Sustainable Development and has launched Vision 2050, a roadmap for accelerate the transformation of Spanish companies towards sustainability, in addition to consolidating itself as the business reference in ESG aspects”. For his part, Montse Miller, president of the current Board of Directors, thanked the association and the team for their support during the four years of her mandate, which have left an organization "growing and with great prospects for the future, leading the discourse and business action in sustainability".

After a long joint career and collaboration between the PEFC and Forética teams, for Ana Belén Noriega, "the time has come to take a step forward by strengthening alliances and in this sense, I believe that the experience accumulated in the work dedicated to forests and rural populations can bring benefits and a positive impact on society to achieve a fairer, more decarbonized and circular social and economic model. It is an honor to be part of this new Board of Directors."

PEFC is the acronym for the Program for the Recognition of Forest Certification at the international level, a non-governmental organization that promotes the sustainable management of forests through the certification of an independent third party.
