After more than two years of work, cinfa, a Spanish pharmaceutical company with more than 50 years of experience, has renewed the design of your prescription medications with more accessible packaging and easier for patients to interpret. The changes introduced in the packaging, which affect 700 references, seek to facilitate pharmaceutical advice, as well as improve adherence to treatments and the taking of medication by patients, especially elderly or polymedicated people, thanks to a more legible, clear and recognizable image that allows the identification and recognition of the treatments.

In this way, the new containers have a color code to identify the active ingredient and the doses, which has also been transferred to the blister packs, in order to avoid confusion with the medication. In addition, an icon has been incorporated with the appearance and color of the pharmaceutical form contained in each container, as well as a blank space on the back of the box, designed to note the use and dosage of the drug.

Regarding the changes to achieve greater accessibility in the packaging, the incorporation of a QR code on the outside of the box stands out, allowing the leaflet to be read directly. The name of the medicine is also maintained in Braille, in order to help people with visual disabilities.

Likewise, Cinfa reinforces its commitment to sustainability by using FSC cardboard in its packaging, coming from forests managed respectfully of people and nature.

Improvements in the design of Cinfa medications

• New identification of the active ingredient and its doses, with a color code and giving priority to its legibility on the case, in order to facilitate the dispensing task.

• Changes in the appearance and color of the icon of the pharmaceutical form contained on the front side of each container, making it as realistic as possible, in its shape and color, to help patients better identify their treatments.

• Incorporation of color into the blister packs, with a color code per dose to help avoid medication mix-ups during intakes.

• QR code on each container to directly access the medication leaflet, making it easier to read and avoiding loss.

• New space on the back of the container, designed to record the use and dosage indicated by the doctor.

• FSC cardboard packaging, from forests managed respectfully with people and nature.

• Global design with the Cinfa image, maintaining the current predominant color of each molecule to enhance the recognition of the Cinfa brand.

“Cinfa is the laboratory most present in Spanish homes and this represents a great responsibility for us when it comes to promoting initiatives that, on the one hand, facilitate patients' understanding and adherence to their treatments and, on the other, optimize the dispensing and pharmaceutical advice from health professionals,” explains José Luis Ergui, director Cinfa Europe.

“We have carried out the entire comprehensive redesign process with them, listening to their needs and demands, to achieve a more functional, understandable design aimed at facilitating the work of dispensing and advice,” he maintains.

Cinfa has already begun to distribute medicines with this new design, so that, for a few months, they will coexist with those that do not yet include these new features, and that can be dispensed by the pharmaceutical professional until their expiration date allows.
