All the RingCycles ™ were launched on the market in October 2019 and in 2020 they began to be supplied, which means that, in just over a year, Spain has opted for sustainable rings, becoming the first market where the leading brands of beverages and beers use the RingCycles ™.

Shawn Welch Vice President and General Manager of Hi-Cone, said: «We are delighted with the fact that our beverage packaging customers in Spain are already using RingCycles ™, it is a very important milestone for the company, as it shows the great acceptance it is having the product in this market and the commitment of our customers in the search for the best sustainable alternatives for multipackaging. I am very proud of our local team.

This commitment from Hi-Cone has meant that the La Garriga plant in Barcelona, which supplies all of Europe and Africa, now only manufactures RingCycles ™ rings. The reduction in the use of virgin plastic has been more than 2.300 tons during 2020 in our country.

Analyzing the impact of the full life cycle of the rings, necessary to promote the circular economy, Hi-Cone obtained the results of the independent and specialized consultancy Franklin Associates, based in Kansas (USA). According to the consultancy, the content used to manufacture the RingCycles ™, post-consumer recycled resin (PCR), If we compare it with the use of virgin resin, the results are as follows: 90% less non-renewable energy is consumed and 83% less water, 75% less greenhouse gases are emitted and 43% are produced. less solid waste than virgin plastic.

The company aims to offer a 100% recyclable, biodegradable or compostable alternative by 2025.
