Barcelona brings design to Design Week Mexico 2018

Barcelona is this year the guest city of the Design Week Mexico and reaffirms the municipal commitment to internationalization of this strategic sector for the city, which is design and innovation.
The Deputy Mayor for Economy and Labor, Digital City and International Relations, Gerardo Pisarello, together with the president of BCD Barcelona Design Center, Pau Herrera, presented last Thursday the program that Barcelona exhibited at the Design Week of Mexico 2018.
Pisarello valued the relevance for the design sector of opening up to new markets and the "key" importance of a sector whose challenge is that "about 50% of the objects that we will use in the future have not yet been designed". For his part, Pau Herrera pointed out that “with initiatives such as 'Inspired in Barcelona' we help companies and professionals to internationalize” and the good reputation of Barcelona at an international level in this professional sector.

Invited city to Mexico
From October 10 to 14, the design of Barcelona will be the protagonist in Mexico. Barcelona is this year the guest city of Design Week Mexico 2018, an edition that celebrates its 10th anniversary, coinciding with the world capital of Mexico City (World Design Capital Mexico 2018). For the occasion, Barcelona Design Center (BCD), with the promotion of the Barcelona City Council, organize the 'Inspired in Barcelona' program, which includes several events with the participation of companies and designers from the city, among which the exhibition 'Inspired in Barcelona: Elements' at the Polanco Clock Tower, which will show a selection of objects that evoke the Mediterranean character of the city, such as light, colors or public space. The companies that will exhibit at Torre del Reloj are: Barcelona Rugs, Escofet, Persiana Barcelona, ​​Santa & Cole, Simon and Vergès.
In addition, the designer Andreu Carulla will exhibit at the National Museum of Anthropology the work resulting from his stay in Taxco in July, where he participated in a residency with local silver artisans.
