The winners of the prestigious awards pentawards This year they were unveiled during a virtual gala ceremony organized live on Thursday, September 24. Among the main winning agencies, stand out Backbone Branding and Design Bridge, each with 5 awards, and, with four awards: ShenZhen Lingyun Creative Packaging Design Co., Ltd, Depot Branding Agency, Xiaomi, Maba Study (Spain) and Anthem.

This year's special awards were also presented, recognizing the highest excellence in packaging design:
• Best rookie of the year: Caparo Design Crew, Greece
• Design Agency of the Year - Backbone Branding, Armenian
• Designer of the year: XiongBo Deng, ShenZhen Lingyun Creative Packaging Design Co.,Ltd,China
• NXT-GEN, Best student work - Robert Dadashev, British School of Art and Design, Russia.

Now in its fourteenth year, the 2020 contest received more than 2.000 entries from 60 countries on five continents; United Kingdom, Spain, Russia and China received the highest number of awards. Of all the works in the competition, more than 400 were shortlisted by the international jury and revealed to the public. The full list of 2020 winners can be seen here in the new Pentawards portal.

This year's winners will also appear alongside the 2019 winners in The Package Design Book 6 of Bags, which will be presented in early 2021. The 2021 contest will open on February 1, 2021.

DIAMOND - BEST OF SHOW, Air Co de Air Co, US
With the mission of being a sustainable alcohol brand, the packaging of the first brand of carbon negative vodka the world, Air Co., it is reusable and 100% sustainable. The label is placed towards the top of the bottle giving ample space to display the liquid. By placing the label lower, the vodka is the first thing you see. The label itself is simple, custom made, natural and non-toxic and can be easily removed so the bottle can be used for other purposes such as a water bottle, vase, or candle holder.


BEVERAGES PLATINUM, Pridem's Gin de Enpedra Estudio, Spain
The design concept of the Pridem Premium Gin focuses on the idea of ​​a sailor, to represent and celebrate freedom. The design is made up of two complex elements: an eye-catching cap in the shape of a sailor's hat that gives the product personality and emphasizes its uniqueness, and a label made up of four independent parts that completely envelops the frusto-conical bottle.
