Verallia celebrates the 25th anniversary of its Montblanc plant

Veralia just celebrated the 25th anniversary of the launch of its factory in Montblanc (Tarragona) inaugurating a new production line (L14) in which an electrical feeder has been installed.

In 1998 Verallia inaugurated its sixth factory on the peninsula with the aim of serving the cava, beer and wine markets in the area. After 25 years of operation, it has taken advantage of the anniversary to inaugurate its fourth production line (L14) with the aim of increasing the factory's capacity by around 15 kt of glass containers per year and covering new markets.

As part of the 25th anniversary of the Montblanc plant, Patrick Lucas, CEO of Verallia, has inaugurated together with paulo pinto, CEO of Verallia Iberia, already Francisco Javier Ears, director of the Montblanc factory, the improvements, including the construction of a new production line that will help strengthen Verallia's presence in the Spanish market. "The new L14 will allow Verallia to respond efficiently to the growing demand of our clients", commented Patrice Lucas at the ceremony held before clients, companies in the area and local institutions.

The new production line (L14) also has an electric feeder, the purpose of which is minimize CO2 emissions, as part of Verallia's strategy to bet on the sustainability and decarbonization of its industrial process.

All these improvements will allow Verallia to advance in sustainability and production capacity, as well as increase the ergonomics and safety of the Montblanc facilities and, with this, improve the working conditions of its workers.

Verallia in Montblanc

Verallia established itself in Montblanc in 1998, with the construction of its plant in the area. Currently, it produces glass bottles for the markets, mainly wines, champagnes and oils. It gives direct employment to more than 130 people and another 100 indirect positions; and it is a true economic and social engine of the region. It has ISO 14001 (environment), OHSAS 18001 and IS0 45001 (health and safety), ISO 50001 (energy), ISO 9001 (quality) and ISO 22000 FSSC 22000 (food safety).

In Spain and Portugal, Verallia is the leader in its activity and a pioneer in innovation and sustainability. It produces 3.300 billion glass containers a year in 12 different colors. Verallia has 6 factories spread over the Iberian Peninsula to be able to supply its customers from nearby, as well as another factory in Gran Canaria where it serves the insular market.
