Camm Solutions is in full expansion in the Spanish market. The company will open a new plant in Spain with the aim of multiplying the production volumes of its sustainable material. The director of Camm Solutions in Spain and director of Sustainability and Innovations of the Holding, Nanda Bergstein, highlights that this expansion is essential to achieve economies of scale and meet the growing demand for sustainable solutions that address plastic pollution.

Camm Solutions develops the camm material from a polyvinyl alcohol base, an effective alternative to traditional plastic that is sustainable, biodegradable and suitable for various applications without leaving traces of harmful chemical residues or microplastics. In this sense, the existing plant in Spain, located in the Valencian town of Rafelbunyol, produces this material according to customer needs, either as a finished product or as a compound or granules for subsequent processing. Having successfully moved from prototype development and pilot quantities to industrial production at this plant, Camm Solutions is now taking the next step in its growth strategy.

In addition to the existing plant in Rafelbunyol, the company has acquired an additional space of 1.500 square meters in the neighboring town of El Puig. This new plant, in which more than 40 million euros have been invested, will be used for the turbomixing of camm material and extrusion processes, with the incorporation of new machines and the corresponding increase in tonnage. “The additional production area meets food safety standards, so granules can also be produced for applications in the food sector,” says Bergstein.

“To ensure that this sustainable material is also affordable and competitive, we are exponentially increasing the quantity produced and thus achieving corresponding economies of scale,” explains Bergstein. In addition, the high demand for camm material requires a rapid expansion of capacity. In this way, this year Camm Solutions aims to produce more than 1.500 tons of this solution in Spanish territory and, with an increase in the workforce in our country of more than 40%, it is expected that the production capacity will reach between 6.000 and 8.000 tons on next year. “With this increase in production volume, the sustainability effect grows naturally and brings us closer to our goal of creating a global solution to the plastic problem,” says Bergstein.

Camm Solutions also plans to move its offices to El Puig, thus freeing up more warehouse space in Rafelbunyol. The transfer will take place during the months of September and October. Research and development activities, including laboratory work and pilot plant operations, as well as production of injection molded products and films, will continue at the current site.
