La European Tube Manufacturers Association (ETMA) has presented the "Tube of the Year" award in the Prototype category to CTL-TH Packaging due to the sustainable approach of its patented ESTube (Easy Supply Tube) technology.
The award ceremony took place in Hamburg on May 23. For this award, the Green ESTube tube along with the Eco Low Profile cap, giving it a plus of sustainability.
The current standard composition of tubes is characterized by different types of plastics: PE for the body and head and PP for the cap. The need to separate the different components and types of plastics used in the tube makes the recycling process of waste plants even more difficult.
The ESTube technology patented by CTL-TH Packaging is an IML (in mold labeling) injection technology. This innovation manages to develop fully monomaterial tubes. The body, head and cap are 100% PP which allows 100% recyclability.
The ESTube is also manufactured with a digital offset printing, cleaner and safer than traditional printing techniques, which allows lower manufacturing losses.
The winning tube has been presented with a special cap, the Eco Low Profile, which gives it a more ecological appearance. This cap, developed by Giflor, combines the advantages of the ESTube with a reduction of 20% less material, which means less impact on transport as well as a lower carbon footprint.
