La Spanish Technological Platform for Container and Packaging (Packnet) organized, with the support of Nekicesa, a session of your Health Working Group, in which the causes and consequences of the lack of adherence to treatment in the patient and the role of the container in this problem.
The Group had the interventions of representatives of Zambon, ONCE, Ceapat - Imserso, Fundación Seres y follow, who moderated the final discussion. During the day the main difficulties encountered by the person receiving the treatment were analyzed, among others the lack of effectiveness in communicating with the patient, the shame of using the medicine in public or the poor accessibility due to the medicine packaging.
This problem with accessibility, which was the focus of much of the debate, diverges in different difficulties depending on the group. It includes, among others, older people who are not capable of differentiating or understanding the way of using the drugs; groups with motor problems who cannot open a container or visually impaired who cannot read the active principle or the name of the drug.
As a result of this last point, the focus was placed on the problems faced by the blind to be able to use a container, transferring this issue to the next event organized by the Platform. The workshop on Braille labeling, coordinated by Packnet together with the ONCE, served to show cases of success in accessible packaging with the presentations of representatives of Mahou San Miguel, Auchan, Enate and Nutriben; as well as to comment and debate the main problems that the visually impaired find in the packaging and propose potential solutions.
