Lluís Pitarch, Ball's new Public Affairs and Sustainability Manager for Southern Europe

ball, producer of drink cans, has announced the appointment of Luis Pitarch as new Manager of Public Affairs and Sustainability for Southern Europe. With extensive experience in governance, political communication, institutional relations, negotiation and alliance building in complex environments, Pitarch will be responsible for developing the company's sustainability strategy in this territory.

With this appointment, Ball reaffirms its commitment to sustainability at a key moment such as today, which is driving transformative change throughout the company. During 2020, Ball made several advances in this direction - such as obtaining the Aluminum Stewardship Initiative (ASI) certification, being the first beverage can manufacturer to achieve this - and consolidated its corporate strategy to contribute to a truly circular economy. «I face this new stage in Ball with great enthusiasm and enthusiasm. During the coming months, we will continue working to reduce the carbon footprint of the can and increase its recycling rate to figures close to 100%, making our packaging the paradigm of the true circular economy», Says Lluís Pitarch.

Until joining Ball, Lluís Pitarch was responsible for public policies at Uber Spain, where he led the company's public affairs strategy in certain global priority projects. Before his time at Uber, he held the position of Associate Director of Public Affairs at the KREAB consultancy, advising mobility platforms and organizations linked to the circular economy. Between 2013 and 2017, he worked as Head of Institutional Relations and Parliamentary Affairs in the Department of Territory and Sustainability and in the Department of Business and Knowledge of the Generalitat de Catalunya. Before that, he was part of the European Institute of the Mediterranean, where he monitored Euro-Mediterranean policies related to infrastructures and the environment.

Pitarch has a degree in Political Science and Administration from the Pompeu Fabra University of Barcelona and a master's degree in International Relations from the Institut Barcelona d'Estudis Internacionals.
