The new Peak Performance generation of the Speedmaster XL 106 Heidelberg It can print up to 21.000 sheets per hour and autonomous printing is now also possible in packaging production, thanks to the improved Push to Stop concept. "The new one Peak Performance Speedmaster XL 106 reduces print production costs significantly, making our customers in the commercial, packaging and label sectors more competitive,” says Dr. Ludwin Monz, CEO of Heidelberg. “Compared to previous generation models, we expect users who produce folding boxes in the 70 x 100 cm format to achieve an increase in overall productivity of up to 20 percent.”

Complex production parameters can now be configured completely automatically, also in packaging and label printing. “We anticipate that a high-volume packaging producer or wet glue label manufacturer will soon reach the 100 million sheets per year benchmark. “This figure represents a 20 percent increase over the 85 million sheets currently being produced by today’s industry leaders,” he says. Markus Leichtle, Senior Manager Industrial Packaging at Heidelberg.

Mike Gunther, CEO of colordruck Baiersbronn GmbH and pilot customer, has been testing the new Peak Performance generation, and agrees: “We expect a significant increase in the reduction of setup times, setup times and overall downtime, so that we will be able to improve the efficiency of our printing with low costs per box.”

Sustainability – new DryStar Combined Eco low consumption dryer:

With delivery insulation, a cross-flow heat exchanger and an improved dryer cassette design, the new DryStar Combined Eco dryer uses up to 30 percent less energy to dry. This investment is of particular interest to companies operating in markets with high energy prices. What's more, the entire machine uses less energy per 1.000 sheets when the production speed is faster; For example, when print speed increases from 18.000 to 21.000 sheets per hour, power consumption drops by about 4,5 percent.

“Precisely because of rising energy prices we hope that this new drying technology will really help alleviate the pressure we have in terms of energy consumption,” he says. Stefan Leonhardt, managing director of WEIG Packaging in Emskirchen, which is also a pilot customer. “The new Speedmaser also automates key processes in packaging production. For us, this means greater efficiency, shorter setup times and increased uptime.”

Digitization

With the Prinect workflow system, Heidelberg takes automation to a completely new level in terms of productivity, offering a solution for further digitalization. For example, Prinect supplies additional data to many assistance systems that increasingly work with artificial intelligence. Many new and improved scanning features, such as Intellistart 3, which alone results in approximately 70 percent fewer operations in the press room, or the enhanced Color Assistant Pro assistance system, which achieves fully ink preset automatic without operational errors, drastically reducing the number of manual interventions.

These features save up to four minutes of preparation time and 100 to 150 wasted sheets of paper per job. Combined with the Prinect Inpress Control in-line color measurement system and automated delivery logistics, in-line scrap sheet ejection enables a waste-free stack for post-press operations, thereby increasing overall efficiency. the process.

Heidelberg will show more highlights of the new generation Speedmaster XL 106 Peak Performance at drupa 2024, which will open in Düsseldorf on May 28.
