Texen reinvents the compact for Le Blanc de Chanel foundation

Chanel

for his iconic Le Blanc foundation, Chanel chose to change its packaging to PET, while maintaining its rigorous technical and aesthetic requirements. The choice of this complex material represented a strategic step for the brand and a new challenge for texen.

This large compact rechargeable it harbors a solid base that promises a luminous and radiant complexion. Until now made of ABS, now it is manufactured entirely in PET (except for the barrette and mirror). With this strategic choice, the brand anticipates changes in European legislation on cosmetic materials and continues its search for eco-design.

Another recent development, the compact XXL for Les Beiges, presented a series of challenges for Texen due to its large size and thin rPET-injected walls. On this occasion, Chanel opted for PET and not rPET for reasons of color stability, given the pale color of the compact.

In respecting the choice of PET, Texen drew on the experience gained from the development of the previous compact. He doubled down on creativity to meet the brand's high demand for quality, a priority he shares with Chanel.

The first challenge was the complex PET injection, which required multiple tests, especially for the lid, with a top and edges in different shades. To inject the edges, Texen used the "Besst Transform" induction technique based on Roctool engineering. The piece offers perfect aesthetics with the absence of superficial defects. The brand logo is then applied to the center of the cap by hot stamping. Each part was injected and then decorated in line with a high solids varnish, in particular the compact base on the Picoligne® production line at Texen's CMSI site. This surface decoration unit plays a role in flexible and protected production. Secondly, the assembly was carried out on the compact Smart production line, which has an integrated “zero defect” inspection module for each and every part. The lid and the hinge are joined with a pin that is compatible with the mechanical properties of the material. Inside, the tray clips in to allow the consumer to easily replace it with a new refill.
